## Tennis, WTA – Thailand Open 2 2024: Zidansek downs Volynets Slovenian Tamara Zidansek reached the second round of the Thailand Open 2 on Tuesday after beating Ukraine's Kateryna Volynets in straight sets. Zidansek, the world's 84th-ranked player, needed just over an hour to dispatch her opponent 6-2 6-3. The 25-year-old Zidansek broke Volynets' serve three times in the first set and twice in the second to set up a second-round clash with American Asia Muhammad. Muhammad, ranked 104th in the world, received a bye in the first round. In other first-round action, Russian Varvara Gracheva defeated Japan's Moyuka Uchijima 6-1 6-3, and Dutchwoman Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove beat Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet 6-3 6-1. Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko also advanced to the second round with a 6-4 2-6 6-4 victory over Chinese qualifier You Xiaodi.
