Former Hoosier Earns Starting Role

Former Indiana QB Sorsby to start for Cincinnati, three other former Hoosiers competing

Former Hoosier earns starting role

Former Indiana quarterback Jack Sorsby is set to start for the University of Cincinnati in Saturday's season opener against the University of Arkansas. Sorsby, who transferred to Cincinnati after the 2022 season, beat out incumbent starter Evan Prater for the job.

Sorsby threw for 1,788 yards and 13 touchdowns last season at Indiana, completing 63.5% of his passes. He also ran for 291 yards and four touchdowns.

Three other former Hoosiers also playing

Sorsby will be joined on the Cincinnati sideline by three other former Indiana players. Wide receiver David Baker, offensive lineman Brady Feeney, and defensive end Jaren Kanak all transferred to Cincinnati along with Sorsby.

Baker was Indiana's leading receiver in 2022, catching 61 passes for 798 yards and six touchdowns. Feeney was a three-year starter on the Indiana offensive line.

Sorsby's success at Cincinnati not a surprise to former coach

Tom Allen, Sorsby's former coach at Indiana, said he is not surprised to see Sorsby succeed at Cincinnati. Allen said Sorsby is a talented player who has a bright future.

"Jack is a great kid and a great player," Allen said. "I'm really happy for him. He's going to have a great career at Cincinnati."
