Early Life and Career

Nuno Miguel Soares Pereira Ribeiro OIH, known as Nuno Gomes, was born on July 5, 1976, in Lisbon, Portugal. His family later moved to Pretoria, South Africa, when he was 14 years old. Nuno Gomes began his football career as a youth player at Boavista FC before making his senior debut in 1994.

International Achievements

Nuno Gomes enjoyed a successful international career with the Portuguese national team. He made his senior debut in 1996 and went on to represent Portugal in two FIFA World Cups (2002 and 2006) and three UEFA EUROs (2000, 2004, and 2008). He played a key role in Portugal's golden age of football, helping them reach the final of the UEFA EURO 2004.

Scuba Diving and Guinness World Records

In addition to his football career, Nuno Gomes is an avid scuba diver. He holds two Guinness World Records for his underwater exploits: the deepest dive using a rebreather (318.2 meters) and the longest distance traveled underwater using a rebreather (120 kilometers).
