Strong Tremors Jolts Delhi-NCR, No Loss of Life or Property
Epicenter in Hindu Kush Region of Afghanistan
Delhi-NCR was jolted by strong tremors on Tuesday evening, October 3, 2023, at 10:17 pm as an earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The National Center for Seismology (NCS), the nodal agency for earthquake monitoring in India, reported that the epicenter of the quake was located 153 km ENE of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
No Casualties Reported
According to the NCS, no loss of life or property has been reported in the national capital so far. However, tremors were felt in various parts of north India, including Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad.
NCS Monitoring Situation
The NCS is actively monitoring the situation and has advised people to stay cautious and follow the necessary safety protocols. The agency has a network of 160 seismological stations across India to track earthquake activity and provide timely alerts.
