Atalanta Beat Marseille to Reach Europa League Final

Ademola Lookman, Matteo Ruggeri, and El Bilal Toure Score for Atalanta

Atalanta enjoyed one of the most famous nights in their history as goals from Ademola Lookman Matteo Ruggeri and El Bilal Toure sent them to their first Europa League final. The Italian side sealed a 4-1 aggregate win over Marseille at the Gewiss Stadium to set up a meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt in the showpiece event in Seville on May 18.

Ademola Lookman had given Atalanta a 1-0 lead in the first leg in France last week and the Nigerian forward doubled their advantage in the tie in the 23rd minute in Bergamo. Matteo Ruggeri added a second just before half-time and El Bilal Toure wrapped up the scoring with a fine solo effort in the second half.

Atalanta will now be hoping to add to their major trophy collection, which currently stands at one Coppa Italia triumph in 1963. They will be underdogs against Eintracht Frankfurt, who knocked out Rangers in the other semi-final, but they will be confident of causing an upset after a memorable campaign in Europe.
