Despite controlling possession and creating more chances, Salzburg struggled to break down a resilient Sturm Graz defense. The visitors took the lead in the 25th minute through Rasmus Böving, who slotted home a low cross from the left flank.

Sturm Graz doubled their lead in the 52nd minute through a header from Jakob Jantscher, who capitalized on a defensive error by Salzburg. The hosts pushed for an equalizer but were unable to find the back of the net.

The result leaves Salzburg with a two-point lead over Sturm Graz at the top of the table. However, the draw could prove costly in their pursuit of an 11th consecutive league title.
