Garland’s Return to Cavs Lineup Uncertain After Injury Update
Cavaliers Guard Sidelined With Eye Injury
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland’s return to the lineup remains up in the air following an update on his eye injury.
Garland has missed the last five games for the Cavs after sustaining the injury during Thursday's game against the Toronto Raptors. The 22-year-old exited the game with 11:25 remaining in the third quarter.
Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff provided an encouraging update on Garland's status, but did not give a definitive timeline for his return. "He's doing better," Bickerstaff said. "He's progressing. We'll see how he responds to some of the work he's doing today, and then we'll make a decision on whether he's available for tomorrow's game."
Garland is questionable to play in Friday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Cavs will likely make a decision on his status closer to game time.
Garland's absence has been a blow to the Cavs, who have struggled to replace his production. The team is 2-3 in his absence, and is currently eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Cavs are hopeful that Garland will be able to return to the lineup soon, but they are not going to rush him back from injury. The team wants to make sure that he is fully recovered before he returns to action.
